Facial recognition jails innocent grandmother, attorney says

Old lady who had never left her local area in Tennessee, gets flagged by facial recognition in North Dakota for bank fraud after surveillance pictures "match" her driver's license photo to crime scene. She spends months in jail waiting from the lazy idiot bureaucracies to discover the obvious.
Lots of people have doppelgangers or near doppelgangers out there. The idiots who didn't even try to check the facial recognition results against reality are going to pay big bucks for this colossal blunder.
quote:
"On December 23, 2025, the FPD detective, the Cass County State's Attorney and the presiding judge mutually agreed to dismiss the charges without prejudice to allow for additional investigation," Stefonowicz said. "Ms. Lipps was subsequently released from the Cass County Jail on December 24, 2025."
By then, she says the damage was already done. She says she lost her home, her car, her reputation and her dog while she was locked up.

But, hey......Lowe's can more easily nab some a-hole for stealing a Dewalt battery, so it all levels out. Right?

She's going to get a massive makeover with her multi-million dollar settlement soon.

It’s like when I put a whoopin on my two boys. Ones always claiming innocent. I tell ‘em’. “Maybe you are innocent this time, but the whoopin is for the shite you got away with and didn’t get caught doing”
