Not my car - so inb4 "you drive a chick car".
Coming up on 100k miles, water pump recently replaced. Offered 5 year/50k extended warranty for ~$2.7k (16% of initial cost of the car). Will hit 5 years before 50k miles. Know nothing of hybrids and/or extended warranties really. Warranty would cover brakes, steering, electrical, AC, suspension, fuel, cooling, and seals/gaskets.
Worth it?

Apparently the water pump itself almost cost that much to replace. Which is why I'm asking. I legit have no clue how expensive hybrids can be to repair. They do plan on keeping the car for longer than 5 years.

The warranty cost price for that car is likely 640 bucks.
I don't shop korean otherwise I'd get a buddy to pull it for you.
Long story short, they are trying to screw you

I'd trade the car in for a new 0% financing gas sonata offer before purchasing a $2700 warranty.

Way too expensive. Anything over $1-1.200 tell then your out. I get the water pump situation now, but if nothing else breaks in your time, then just paid extended warranty company instead if shop. Plus, why over pay when can pay a reasonable price

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I misunderstood what the person who had it replaced told me. May have been more scope than just the water pump. Either way, I told them that seemed high, but truly have no idea what normal repair costs for hybrids are.

In very good condition the trade in value for that car is $7,000. So you'd be paying 39% of the car's current value for a warranty.
