I was driving and Roberto Guerrero was right seat.
I clipped a cone and it went into the air and came down rightside up.
He says, " Ok, that doesn't count, it came down straight. But it thats a wall that's no good, right?"
Yes, sir.

Second, bring that ZL1 to the next CENLA SCCA event and let's see if you drive as well as you think you do.
That is like slipping a roofie on a date. It is arguably the most specialized race. You just want to see him get slaughtered by a Miata.
He says he wants a straight-line race which leaves me out. I don't have access to anything that would be fair. I would either get beat bad or be able to come off the throttle at 660 and pull the chute at 1100'. From a 40 mph roll a mile is going to see speeds over 180mph and I ain't doing that on a public road and certainly not beside someone I don't know. One of the US Mile events would be a different story.
The ZL1 stock is about a mid 11 capable car, with average drivers they tend to run low 12s, the moderatly tuned (850hp crank) ones will run around mid-10s with drag radials on a sticky strip. Now if he has spent 60 or so grand in mods he could be running low 9s... but there might be 2 out there. 'Course there are a couple of 991 911s running mid 8s but those are unicorns too.

Yup!
If my car was running I'd give it a shot on the highway, but I'm still several months out from being finished

I learned more in an hour with him than I have in days/weeks before. He is a helluva nice guy, too.
Mainly, that I would never, ever be smooth enough to pole an Indy car.

Nice, is that a Garret 2560R?

Precision 6766.

It started life as a 3 Series coupe. Not many stock parts left on it now though.

Precision 6766.
I admit to knowing nothing about those motors but I would have thought a 67mm turbo would be laggy. How small is the A/R?

I think we may have a little misunderstanding. Pictured above is not a miata. I do autocross, but not in my own car.
The pic is of my 1994 Supra. The 6766 should give me about 550 to the wheels on 93, and 750ish on E85. .81 A/R so lag will be, err...tolerable?
Full boost by 4k is my hope.

I knew it was a 2JZ but I thought it was your autocross car so I thought it would be too laggy for point and squirt.
But I honestly know very little about tuning Japanese motors and all I know about the 2JZ other than its legend is that you can get well over 2000hp @ the crank out of them. Which I find positively alarming.

I gotcha.
You're correct though, this would be way too laggy for autox. That said, SOWELA has an event once per year at cajun field and the course is usually pretty fast since there is so much room. Might have to bring it just for the lulz...
2JZs can handle lots of power, but the myth is a little overblown IMO. Stock shortblock is OK at around 750 to the wheels. Push beyond that and you're on borrowed time. To get the big 4 digit numbers you have to build the bottom end, then the sky is the limit, both in terms of power and $$$budget$$$

I own half of a drag car with my BIL and about 4 years ago when I was still active with the car we were at a test and tune at Darlington and a guy had a Supra there that was running mid 7s. I talked to him a bit and he was running ~80 psi of boost and getting over 2100hp. Our Top Sportsman car was running about the same HP from a Fulton 728 (12 liter) rat motor with a ton of spray. We were faster but outside of the tires and chute it looked like a pure street car on the outside and it had a tag on it.

The interesting thing to see will be sales in Europe for the C8. I think the style changes may help that.
They are opening some Cadillac + Corvette dealers in Europe this year.
They are also getting a right hand drive version for the Brits along with NZ, Japan, and Oz.

The worst thing about buying a Corvette is that you have to go to a Chevy dealership for warranty/service work. A typical Chevy dealership is high volume and jammed up.
Cadillac warranty work was much closer to BMW/Jaguar; loaner car, no issues, appointments were on time.
GM has talked about spinning off Corvette before. I hope they do it this time.

Notice how the C8 is "CORVETTE by Chevrolet", instead of the Chevrolet Corvette.
