Mine is similar. We can spend $200 more than the cheapest flight. Cuts us out of direct flights for some places. Spirit doesn't show up on Concur for me, though.

With my last firm we had a catch-all that said 'client specified travel times' which we would use to ensure we could book with our airline of choice.

Now I work for a firm in the industry and everyone is so conscious of their FF status that management doesn't even care about the price as long as it is compliant with the client contract.

It's hit or miss (we use concur as well). Anytime it comes up, I'll just pick my United flight and put "lol spirit" in the space for the reason the more expensive flight was chosen.

And yea, United and all the others are "lol" as well, but status greatly improves flight experience quality, so there is incentive to be loyal.

Never flown Spirit and never will but from what I have read the problems aren't so much the flight itself, but how they throw you under the bus in the case of a delay/cancellation. You are pretty much on your own and they don't do much if anything to help out their passengers.

The fees suck, but you know about that going in and therefore you know what you are getting. Same with legroom and such.

But no excuse for them doing nothing to help stranded passengers for cancellations/delays.

Sounds pretty sweet. Fortunately, I don't travel enough to build many sky miles anyway...3-4 trips a year.

I was gonna book a flight to houston on spirit until i registered and realized how many fees they were tacking on. It was gonna be more expensive than the United Airlines direct flight.

How much stuff are you bringing? You're allowed 1 personal item for free. This bag I linked earlier fits within their personal bag regulations and has enough space for a weekend trip

I'm going to try to fit everything in my carryon bag. But it looked like there was a charge for that on spirit? By the time i got to the payment page, it was over $200. I booked the united flight out of nola for $189

I only fly Delta unless its absurdly more expensive than the other carriers. I should hit platinum this year

You're allowed 1 personal item for free. An additional carry-on is an extra charge and a checked bag is extra also.

One personal item is included with a Bare Fare. This is something like a small backpack or purse that fits entirely in the smaller sizer box (16”x14”x12”). You need to pay for any additional/larger bags.
Buy bags early and online for the best price. All prices are per bag, each way.

Three most terrifying words used together.

Delta. Atlanta. Connection.

I don't get the hate for ATL

If I get delayed there... anything is there I could possibly want and there is always another flight to get on an hour later.

I prefer going through there more than CVG, DTW, or MSP :dunno

I don't have a membership and bought it online. There's a 5% surcharge for nonmembers

If I wanted prominent delays, I'd take Amtrak.

ATL is massive, it is always packed, and it is barely navigable with it's narrow concourses and the morbidly obese customers milling in it. The employees are surly beasts, for the most part.

I was thinking Southwest, but frick Hobby airport. They broke my luggage last time, and is about 40 minutes further from my parents place than IAH

Hobby blows IAH out of the fricking water. I hate IAH. But if your parents live in the Woodlands, yeah, fly to IAH.

Are you flying from BR? If so, who gives a shite how bad it is? It's a 40 minute flight. Just wear comfortable clothes and download a couple episodes of a TV show.
