Go to that bar that’s there right when you walk through the shops. Last time I went I walked through town to find a liquor store. I do not recommend that.

Get the 30 massage on the beach. The bus ride from the ship to the beach is fun, look down out the window

It’s a really cool Mexican town (at least it was 10 years ago when I went).
Didn’t have the Cozumel/Cancún vibe

When I went (this was probably 6-7 years ago though), we booked the private beach thing. Had to take a bus through, what can only be described as everything you expect Mexico to be, to a nicer area. Free beer and margaritas at a decent private beach area. Was next to a restaurant, if I remember correctly. Progreso was pretty underwhelming as a whole though.

Took a bus from the ship to some private house on the beach a few miles down the road. They had a free buffet (best Mexican food I ever had) and an open bar.

Yucatan Cenote
Went there on a cruise last fall.
We used these people for a custom excursion away from the regular bus loads of people on tour buses from the ship. It was awesome. We went Uxmal and then a private cenote with the best Mexican food I've ever eaten cooked right in front of you. Got to jump off a 40 foot platform at the cenote into crystal clear water that was so deep you couldn't get to the bottom without some scuba gear.
Highly recommend them. Worth every penny and was less than what the excursions through the ship cost.
