Maybe it’s the way this story is written but it heavily implies they didn’t search his home in the wake of the George Floyd fiasco because it would have opened up a storm of controversy. If that’s the case, why did they until weeks before the trial to decide whether or not to search his house… if they chose to search his home during the initial investigation (2015 pre Floyd), why would that set off a storm of controversy? Are they arguing that by not searching the house it denied him the right to bring up a lack of gun evidence at trial?? People get convicted everyday without weapons used in a crime being found.
