The damage to Nola alone would have been horrific.
I feel for those poor sons a bitches in the panhandle.
Baby Breesus was looking over us.

Yes. That cold front came just in the nick of time to steer it away from Louisiana.

Katrina was bad due to immense size and time it was a huge monster.
This was a small storm. If it would have taken the path 30 miles to the left of Katrina, there would be horrific scenes along the coast, areas outside levee protection would be bad.
But NOLA would not have been too at all. Certainly not "horrific"
The scenes we are seeing now are on the actual coast. NOLA is not.

I am glad we avoided it, but it sucks that others have to deal with it.
There will be times when we get it and others avoid getting it..
But yes, I am glad we didn't have to deal with it right now.

Could you imagine if Katrina would have hit New Orleans?

Can only breathe sighs of relief for so long. It's only a matter of time before one hits us.

I can deal with your sig quote.
I can deal with your sig pic.
I cannot deal with both of them together.

Technically, it hit in Mississippi and while it was the cause of it, the break in the levee is what really did the damage to New Orleans. Not sure what point you are trying to make by asking that question.

No fricking shite Chris.

The point is, could you imagine if Katrina had hit New Orleans vs Michael? The storm surge Katrina brought with it would have had all of Jefferson Parish, Orleans Parish, St Benard, St Tammany, possibly St Charles and St John parishes underwater and completely wiped off the map.

We avoided the 50 inches of rain that hit Texas last year and we avoided this hurricane hitting Florida but it’s only a matter of time
My girlfriend is from the Midwest and wants to move back. Considering weather, Infrastructure, economy, insurance, and education I think I may move with her.

Tornadoes scare me more than hurricanes. At least you can prepare and evacuate for hurricanes. Tornadoes are downright scary

This. Of all the natural disasters to deal with, I have always stated I’d prefer hurricanes. Tornadoes pop up and are devastating, earthquakes are horrifying because they also pop up out of the blue and a huge one may eventually remove a damn state, blizzards could freeze folks to death. Hurricanes are devastating but you typically have a few days to a week to get out of the damn way.
