Ever since the snow, bricks on my house breaking

Since the snow storm in Baton Rouge in December, pieces of brick have been breaking off my house. Not entire bricks and whole bricks are not cracking, it's just slivers of the brick facade are breaking off.
Does my house have brick AIDS?

Yep. You should have gotten the cold weather bricks like the rest of us.

Moisture got into the brick, froze, thawed, and your brick is crumbling on the exterior.

You'll have to wait till summer when it dries out and have them resealed. They absorbed water and that water froze and caused them to fracture.

Never seen that before even living in much colder climates than LA. Sounds like water got into the brick face and the freeze action broke of the pieces

I have seen the face of bricks fall off due to foundation shifting...how is the dirt in your area?...do you see any cracks in the foundation or anything like that?

Spalling:
Spalling is when portions of the brick flake off from the main body of the brick. Sometimes the spalled pieces can be very large portions of the original brick. There are several reasons that brick spalling may occur. Spalling may be caused by installation of brick coatings intended to not allow the brick to “breath” (moisture in the form of vapor not allowed to transmit through the brick to the exterior). When this occurs and is compounded by a lack of drainage provisions, moisture trapped behind the exterior surface of the brick will freeze and exert pressures in the brick material sufficient to break a portion away from the rest of the brick (spall). Spalling can also be due to the brick materials being made from soft clay material which will readily absorb moisture that may freeze within the brick, resulting in spalling. A third reason for spalling could be due to movement of the structure. The movement may exert sufficient pressures onto individual brick that breaks the brick apart. This latter phenomenon has its most common occurrence at structural lintels in buildings.

as mentioned, bricks absorbed water and then froze causing bricks to flake. I've seen it way worse in the old brick than new stuff. Probably because those old bricks were very porous.

My old wood floors have a few boards showing a space between them all of sudden. I noticed it and googled shite.. Moisture is the cause. My house is raised and figured the freeze is the cause.

The bricks are only flaking off of the dormer.

It is normal for wood to expand and shrink

Moisture is technically the cause but it is probably from a lack of rather than too much. Running your heat so much lately has caused low humidity in the house and boards shrank. Once spring shows up they should tighten back up. My oak floors will shrink as much as 1/16 per 2" board in the winter. sucks.

Hard to picture a dormer with bricks but I'd guess it's isolated from the house's heat and/or its exposed to more rainwater than elsewhere.
