Yes, I see them often around the Bonnet Carre spillway. Recently saw one carrying a big arse rabbit, that was so big, it was struggling to fly.

Saw one yesterday while fishing on Lake Mitchell in central Alabama. Heard the distinctive call, and turned to see it. It was pretty far away. Not the first one I've seen on that lake.
Can usually see one in the spring on Lake Jordan. There's a nest near the inlet between the Jordan Dam and the Bouldin Dam.
Best sighting was seeing on the day my sister pinned on Brigadier General. Her ceremony took place in the Officers Club on Fort Belvoir, which is close enough to the Potomac River for one to hunt. It was calmly roosted in a tree behind the club while we were gathering to start the ceremony. I've also seen one circling over Woods Reservoir on Arnold AFB in TN during a promotion ceremony being held at the University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma.
Let me tell you, when you see one during an armed forces promotion ceremony, you don't forget that.

As a matter of fact, a couple of weeks ago I was on my run and about 60 yards in front of me a bald eagle had just caught a possum and landed on the road and started shredding apart the possum in front of me. It was pretty wild

I used to see them all the time off I-10 entering Metairie . They built artificial nests for them above the water
