I really don't mean this to be mean, but you are obviously missing an IQ in excess of 65.

I bid you a good day. It's probably time for your paste and milk anyways.

would still like a square answer on how much is too much to make on personal gain for this scenario. If anyone would play along with my question.

$28MM is due from the convicted fellon who filmed her. So let's assume he's not coughing it up. Now we're left with $26.75MM from Marriott. I don't know what her arrangement was with her attorney but most plaintiff's firms are paid on commission - the standard being 33%, give or take. (As an aside: someone well-heeled like Andrews may have paid a firm hourly, but that would be risky).

So in all likelihood the most she'll see is $17.65MM. It's still a nice pay day but plenty of people in similar jobs to hers make that much in a year. Who knows what this really did to her career trajectory? She could've been considered to anchor GMA before this "scandal" (Robin Roberts makes $20MM/year). We just don't know.

You confuse IQ and being informed, and then belittle someone because you're ill-equipped to properly inform someone about a topic you think is simple... and I'm the dumb one?

I gotcha on that. I understand how the value from the felon is of course impossible. I also dig that Marriott is only paying half, of which 40% or whatever percentage the lawyers are making.

Still no one is really answering though, and idk why I'm trying at this point.

How much is too much for Erin Andrews to ask/receive for this type of action?

Again, The Marriott had the chance to settle for far less. (arround 25 million)

The state of Tennessee has abolished joint and several liability and has adopted a modified comparative fault system where each defendant will be liable only for that proportion of damages attributable to its own fault.

Marriott was found 49% liable ($26.75 million or whatever the number came out to be). Stalker/Barnett (I believe was his name?) was found responsible for 51% ($28 million).

That's most likely why Marriott's attorney advised them not to settle. In no way would the hotel be found to be more than 49% at fault by the trier of fact.

Also she's only getting $26MM, the other $28 is supposed to come from the pervert who filmed her.

The lawyers get a third of her share. And the government will take a giant bite out of what's left.

Yeah, I believe punitive damages are almost always taxable.

I doubt she would have exchanged a naked video of herself for $55 million, even if she knew in advance.

I'll bet she would keep the $55 million.

My God this is peak O-TL behavior.

There's like four people in this thread that have any idea what's going on and the rest of you are just up here with your thumbs up your arse complaining about money that DOES NOT CONCERN YOU.

Perhaps an attorney can 1) explain a "non compus mentis" to you.

Damn man, if you're going to be patronizing with the Latin legal jargon, at least spell it correctly.

I understand the concept of punitives, and this verdict is still crazy high.

There is no right answer. Some people will think any amount of money is ridiculous. Some will think no amount is enough.

Her privacy was violated in a way that can never be undone, and most of us will never understand. Who are we to decide what should be enough?

99% of the stories posted here don't concern any of us. If this is the requirement for message board conversation now, it's gonna be pretty quiet here.

I don't know which is more entertaining:

-JBeam's white knighting

-Rebel's lack of understanding of the facts in this case

Either way, carry on fellas!

Dude, she was just awarded 50 million.

It was blurry and the equivalent if walking on a nude beach.

Get over yourself.
