Sheeeeeeeeet......

I'm a salary employee and they treat us like hourly prisoners on this job. Were "billable" but only for the hours were on site. So we catch the other end of the stick too.... bound to the badge clock like the concentration camps. It's bullshite. I get paid to get a job done, not punch a clock.

Engineers don't have to get a masters degree to be hired. That tells you all you need to know right there.

So where'd you get your engineering degree from?

Every set of plans I see an electrical engineer put out are riddled with mistakes. Seems a lot of them do more copy and pasting than anything. I'm sure their schooling was tough, just seems like they mail it in when they get their stamp:

they are "designers", their liability is minuscule

I'm not knocking engineers. I will however say this;

LSU engineer> A&M Engineer> ULL Engineer

but according to any P.E. in Lafayette its the other way around. ULL may be better than LSU at something, but definitely not this.

Not always the case, at least not in my O&G industry experience.

I pulled an engineer off to the side on one project and talked to her about the way they had driveway turnouts drawn up and that they would be too steep for cars to approach. Her response was asking me who had an Engineering degree, I told her that she did but that she needed to rethink the driveways. She then told me to build it the way that she drew it. I built them and gave the homeowners her cell number and got a call a week later after they blew up her phone and she had to change her cell number. She was pissed.

An engineer is only as good as the people around them, they can't think of every thing on every project and if they are willing to listen to their contractors with an open mind, the better they are and the better the project will be.

Engineers, like any other profession, have the ones that know their shite and the ones that have a superiority complex because of a piece of paper. I have worked with both types, including this one....

I never cried one tear about how difficult my college courses were or ever heard any of my colleagues cry as well.
We knew what we were in for and went for it.
