Engine rebuild

I'm getting a new cam shaft, springs and pushrods installed in my motor. Is this about half way to en engine rebuild? More? Less?

Nope. That's all top half stuff. No need to even come close to pulling the engine to change those parts. The mechanic doesn't even need to remove the cylinder heads to change those parts.

Is this a Lycoming aircraft engine or an outboard?

hmm no man thats not even close to a full rebuild
a full engine build would start with striping it down to a bare block, magnaflux the block
check the crank and all the cylinder wall
and if you are gong with a new cam
new roller rockers and pushrods are needed
what kind of motor is this?

Got it! Thanks. Motor is an LS1

Don't need any of those parts for a cam swap on a LSx engine unless you are putting in something suitable for racing only. GM did a pretty good job designing the factory parts in those heads.
As for the rebuild, not quite half way but LS1's (like most small blocks) wear out the top end parts way before the bottom end on a well maintained engine. You'll be pulling the heads to replace valves, guides, and seats before needing the rotating assembly overhauled as long as you are changing the oil and not abusing it.

You doing this for preformance or is something wrong with the factory cam?

Put some long tubes on it if you want to do that new cam some justice.

Yes sir! She is a 2000 corvette with vararam air induction, LS6 intake, LG super pro longtubes, and Corsa catback. I'm getting the V2 cam to put her up in the Z06 range.

Be sure that you change lifters if you are changing cam...

Fund a reputable tuner and put it on a dyno. After that go have fun with it

I'm driving to Dallas in the morning to have SNL performance do the install. I've been looking forward to this since I booked it two months ago!

That's not even rebuilding the heads.
