CREE is better than the rest because they figured out how to match incandescent in look and also spread the light better. The problem with LED of the past is how concentrated the light was in one spot. The CREE bulbs I have do a good job of lighting 360-degrees.
We're in the process of changing all of our HPS industrial lights on one of our platforms to LED and it's going to make a huge difference on our back-up power loads. That and induction lighting are big energy savers.

Something like this, just make sure the diameter of the fixture is right.

Big house with a lot of lights. Electric bill used to run $600 a month now its only $400 thanks to switching over to all LEDs. I spent over $4500 in LED lights.
Damn your ROI is almost 3 years even with the exaggerated savings claim. Honestly though, the true ROI on these things is probably close to 10 years.
I can understand maybe buying for the longevity, still pretty unproved, however don't kid yourself into thinking a $8 bulb is going to save you money.

How so? $8 isn't much more than a CFL at $4 which in my experience goes out in about a year. I'm constantly replacing those shitty CFLs and went back to incandescent in most fixtures.
