Yeah, it's kind of a chicken and egg scenario. Do the private schools fill a void or cause the void? St Mary has one small private high school. Their ranking is pretty solid for the publics. Go figure.
ETA - That ship has likely sailed though, so good luck fixing it.

Of course it does. EBR schools were ruined by John Parker's ruling. A lot of those that got C's, D's were decent schools 25 years ago.

They altered the system for this school year, so the grading is tougher. Next year at this time when scores are released a lot of these districts will have lower scores/grades due to the change. I expect EBR to be a "D" level district next go-round.

LA has the worst schools in the nation, my home parish has the worst schools in the state, and I attended the worst school in the parish. Thus, per the logic I learned in school, I attended the worst school in the nation.
At least I was the second smartest kid in my class. The smartest kid was a quiet black girl who lived in what most people would call a shack that was by the railroad tracks alongside a cotton field. She was a damned Horatio Alger story. They should make a movie about her,
