Easy way to find major industries and job prospects in random cities around the globe?

The "Letting it All Go" thread got me thinking about becoming an expat again, so I found this LINK which allows you to find cities across the globe based on filters such as budget, weather, crime, language, etc. I don't know much about a lot of these cities, and it would be much easier to filter some out if I could find a similar site that tells you things like the major market sectors in each city and average compensation levels. Anyone know the best place to research this? TIA.

Search for the top employers. #1 will be government and #2 will be healthcare.

Where were you an expat if you don't mind me asking. For years I said I was going to retire early and move to Ecuador. Honestly, I moved to Alaska and I feel like I am an Expat.

I didn't word that well. I'm thinking about it again.
