I just question why that same amount of energy isn't there for all the idiots on the road that are so much more dangerous than any self driving car.
I agree. With 3 children who will need to drive in the next 10 to 14 years, I welcome the help of technology to make driving safer. A selfish desire of mine is to have FSD fully implemented and battle tested by the time they drive so I can worry less. My #1 rule when I'm on the road is to assume every other driver is a retard, because many are.

I used to hate on Tesla until I started really looking at the tech they test in these cars. I've said it before in a few threads, I test drove and X for 2 days, and getting back into my ICE truck feels like I was transported to 1950. And my truck is not old.
A good friend has one, and now that the battery life for them is well known (300-500,000 miles), my wife's next commuter car is going to be a Tesla, and there's not even a close 2nd, especially with the shite internal combustion engines that manufacturers are pumping out nowadays, Toyota included.

If I could have heavy hauling trucks, side x sides, heavy equipment, etc. that was all electric and there not be the problem of having to charge in remote areas, every single thing that I own sitting on tires or tracks would be electric. Piss on changing oil, air filters, fuel pumps and lines, etc. It's far more feasible in a vehicle. In fact, for our purposes, it just makes sense.

The point was that isn't currently feasible. It will take years if not decades before safe operating autonomous vehicles can be a reality.

Oh, I know it’s not feasible now. I completely expect it to be years or decades. But, it will definitely make the roads much safer for all when it does happen and that is the positive. That was the point I made. Hopefully less morons in the left lane as well.
