re: Drunk driver that caused 2 deaths Monday

I'm wondering if the person got on the interstate at North St. The northbound exit has a weird exit on the left that could look like an entrance ramp at night to someone not paying attention (or drunk). I took that exit on Saturday and noticed only one "wrong way" sign that's off to the side and none of those road reflectors that look red if going the wrong way.

Thought this was very odd, this person killed somebody with the head-on collision which resulted in the death of the good samaritan and they haven't released a name or announced any charges

What difference does it make if theyre drunk or not. I see idiot drivers everyday driving stone cold sober. I drive better than them shite-faced, reading newspaper, smoking a doob while driving with my knee. Whos going to take their license away for "driving while retarded"?
And since we're on the subject...
If theyre going to let 98 year old women drive 6,000 lb Buicks on the interstate they should let me drive drunk. I mean, theyre literally impaired every second theyre alive.
I see a double standard here.

Probably waiting on the toxicology results to come back since they probably had to do a blood draw.
That takes ~1 hour.
Only on T.V.
You would need to put a rush on it to get it in the same week. No reason to ask for a rush on a case like this.
I'm guessing they are just wanting to make 1 press release/update and are waiting on B.A.C. results.

Well, it makes quite a difference in the statutes you'll be charged with - paying fines for careless/reckless operation going the wrong way on the interstate while sober vs. spending years in pound-me-in-the-arse-prison for going the wrong way on the interstate while drunk.
Same net outcome, right?
Yea. Thats what I thought.

Hate to say it, but THIS quote X 100 hits the nail! Sober drivers, in at least south Louisiana, have next to nothing on a drunk driver.
!

I dont understand why texters and people that fall asleep driving dont get the same hate as drunk drivers.
They are more dangerous.
Anybody that falls asleep while driving is a POS. I dont care if you are tired from working or what.

I only fall asleep when I'm drunk.
To the op...I wonder if the driver is still in hospital and hasn't been charged bc they are waiting for him to be released. And the wreck happened on a Friday morning but the 2nd person died Monday

People are going to downvote you but I agree that it's ridiculous that people think drinking and driving makes you the devil but texting is fine and falling asleep "could happen to anyone". frick that, both are much worse that drinking and driving

because while you "think" you can drink and drive which honestly i'm sure a lot of people can. But there are others who think they can and can't even walk.
Same shite happened to me back in the early 90's. Coming home from the city with a girlfriend and her mom on hwy 90 towards raceland and some drunk frick was in our lane going the wrong way leaving the queen bee. he missed a couple cars but hit us head on.

They should. And they should get an equally stiff penalty, significant jail time with no early release.

texters is understandable but someone that gets drowsy at the wheel could be pushing it. Everyone had driven while fatigued.
