Watched a guy I went to high school with tear down a Dodge Dakota to the nuts and bolts while he was high on meth. The truck was completely disassembled in three days. Every part.

I also have family members that are addicts and have known the addicts they associate with. One thing I've noticed over the years is once they graduate to using a needle you can hang a toe tag on them cause 95% will be dead within a few years. Seems like they can halfway manage just smoking or snorting but once they get on the needle they're done it's over.

This was in the 1990's.
A guy with a mullet and wife beater spud Mckenzie Budweiser shirt smashed both side and then the rear window in a fairly new police cruiser while in handcuffs.
Yup, he had no pants on and flip flops and don't ask about the used rubber with a hamster stuck up his poop shooter.
Then he was dry humping the seat screamng that he was riding a buffalo and he was buffalo bill.

This was my first month out of the Academy and then I had to clean the blood, poop, and other bodily fluids!

It is funny now, back then it wasn't.

Look man, I'll tell you how it is.

I'm a recovering drug addict myself. I've had a lot of friends do drugs. They all didn't get hooked like me. I know a lot that did. I'm 26 years old. And I've had personally at least 15 friends die from addiction. And know countless others.

I do nothing anymore but not everyone is an addict. Some people can smoke weed drink sniff Coke every once in a while. I can't. Once I started using oxy then graduated to heroin it was game over for me. Stole from every family member, lied, robbed random people including drug dealers, overdosed multiple times 2 where I was dead and they brought me back and I was getting High the next day. I've sold my grandparents jewelry. Etc. you name it I've done it.

I have over a year and a half clean now. Work in a treatment center in south Florida. I see everyday the effect drugs have on people man. Treatment is a billion dollar industry just in south Florida. It's fricking sad. Glad my life is back together. Even tho I wanted a xanax so bad during this fricking game tonight lol. But I don't have to live like that anymore.

Good for you!

Addiction is a MFer!

I really feel that the key to overcoming addiction is as much spiritual as it is physical.

Thanks. I work a 12 step program and that works for me and that incorporates a lot of spiritual things that help me.

That's awesome man, always makes me happy hearing stories about people cleaning up. Gives me hope that someday my brother might as well. Thanks for sharing your story.

Been on way to many calls where I watched people over dosing die because they refuse medical care. I never want to remember the calls where a wife, husband, mother, or father comes to the drug house to beg the person to get medical care and all you can do is watch them die with the paramedics right there.

A huge problem I saw when a user was released from rehab they went right back into a situation that got them hooked on drugs in the first place.

Have you got any drug addict stories?
Too many unfortunately. A few off the top of my head....some of these are typical

A Mom lost custody of her daughter, was cut off by friends and family, and lived homeless for a few years before recently entering a halfway house.

An old friend from high school got hooked on meth. He knew we would be with our families on Christmas morning so he threw a propane tank through our back porch window. He stole as much stuff as he could. Sheriff's got him leaving the apartment complex.

Another friend of mine from high school just isn't the same person anymore. She was 2nd smartest kid in our class, full scholarship for college. Finished her degree and moves back home. Tries smoking weed, decides she loves it, and wants to see what else she loves. She will spend the next 9 years experimenting and partying. No major addictions will come from it, but she just isn't the same. I can just tell that she isn't as smart as she used to be. It's sad.

A close friend of mine from college died from addiction. He was what you would call a functioning addict. He just had to be on something. Usually he was just smoking weed and he could function fine. Didn't take anything else. The problem came when he got caught with some weed. Had to start taking piss tests for court....so his dumbass lets someone convince him to do other drugs that will leav his system faster. Too many uppers and downers one night and his heart stopped. This one hurt the most. He would've done some great things with life if he could've gotten his act together.

I can't think of any crazy stories, but I do have 2 friends who's hearts exploded and died instantly. It's sad deal as both left kids behind. I have another acquaintance who OD on heroine I believe it was. He was in his early 20s.

I do have family members who have struggled there whole adult lives with drugs. We once gifted a mini van to one of them so he would have transportation for his young daughter and wife. A couple months later he sold it for $300 and disappeared for a weekend. That pissed me off to know end. For another family member, we watched my young niece one Saturday so her dad and mom could attend some day event. When they did not show up that evening we new something was up. They disappeared till that Monday. They went partying with friends and got high as could be. Again pissed me off. Most of all, I feel sorry for the kids. It's not their fault that their parents are so messed up.

I had a female roommate a couple years ago that was cute as could be. 28, responded to a craigslist ad for roommate. She was here about 4 months. Came from California with a decent amount of savings to pay rent( don't know where she got it). Basically this chick would drink hard liquor whenever she was awake until she passed out. She would shake and tremble a lot. Common area's were trashed. Her room was like a hoarder. She was hired for 4 separate jobs, and none lasted more than a week. Two she didn't even return for day 2. One, She had to go to the hospital the first day at lunch. Would knock on my bedroom door at all hours of the night, 11-4am wanting a cigarette after me repeatedly telling her to stop. At least 5 random men over in that time during the middle of the day. Scary scary chick. Ended up having to kick her out.
