The smoked boudin at Kartchner’s is freakin fantastic, but you’ll burp it for 24 hours!
I take 190 a lot to avoid the I-10 shite show, unless I’m on the road super early

Bring a cooler and stock-up on boudin, andouille, smoked sausage from Billy's, Kartchners. Teets (Ville Platte) is not too far off US190 either.
Seems like the way to go. Based on what everyone has suggested, I’ll need to load up for my game days at home.

When I was a student in the mid-late 2000’s, I made the drive home frequently. It’s a good 8 hours if traffic is going good, and I only had to worry about the border.
Now, there’s constant stop and go action between BR and Laffy and LC. It’s a wreck here or there, major truck traffic, fans headed back west from the game, etc. I’m done with it. If the drive home takes 9.5 hours, I’d rather be moving.

Plan on eating some tonight. Stuff is magical. As is Billy's.

Stop at Mr. T's in Elton. Should have some Sunday dinners ready. Pork steak so big you can't close the styrafoam plate!

Actually took this route when evacuating for Ida last year. Left Metairie and didn't touch I-10 until we were in Texas.
It was okay. We got Popeyes in Opelousas; the staff was actually very nice and efficient, which was a surprise.

I gotta trip to San Antonio in a few months and was wondering if this was worth it with I10 traffic.
