Wealthiest people I ever met - heirs to a huge steel fortune and the dad was a doctor in his own right I'm talking really really rich - drove a Volvo station wagon. Under the radar.
Everyone has a vice, theirs isn't cars...it's likely trips, fine cuisine, yachts, etc.

Generally speaking, the majority of people who have money don't flaunt it. As a matter of fact, you would be hard pressed to spot the "average" millionaire.
I worked at a bank in the 1970s, in that era the financial hub for most people was their bank. "The bank" carried their mortgage, financed their cars, juniors braces and even student loans. Most people invested in CDs, but for those that invested in the market their broker was usually at their bank. We had a pretty good picture of a person's finances. From that I found,
There were those with significant wealth, but you would never know it.
There were those with significant wealth that could afford to live large, and did.
There were those with above average incomes that spent every dime, and borrowed even more to appear wealthy.
The last category was always the largest, and the bank loved them.

I agree that people with alot of money don't flaunt it. the same with golfers. if you talk about how good you are at golf you probably suck monkey balls. be wary of the ones who talk about course conditions but never tell you what they shot
