MARINGOUIN – Authorities are responding to a double shooting on Valverda Road near Fontaine Road. According to sources, Valverda Elementary School located near the area is currently on lockdown. Preliminary sources tell WBRZ that there were two men shooting at one another and one fled. Helicopters can be heard flying over the school. Air Med has responded to the scene. Authorities are currently searching for a '90's model red Mustang with heavily tinted windows traveling toward Maringouin. Preliminary reports indicate that three black men are in the car. A News 2 crew is on the scene. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
