HOUSTON – Two teenagers and a 20-year-old woman have been charged in an attempted armored truck robbery on Bellaire Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

Ayden Bazy, 17, and Danaya Pope, 20, are both facing felony charges in connection with the robbery, police said. A 16-year-old who hasn’t been identified is also charged.

Bazy has played football at Heights High School, a source tells KPRC 2 News, but his current status with the team is unclear. On social media, Bazy said he’s committed to play football at Missouri State, which has also been reported by a local newspaper in Springfield.

On Tuesday, Houston police said the suspects drove a stolen truck to a strip mall on Bellaire Boulevard where they attempted to rob employees of an armored truck outside of an ACE Cash Express.

Police said the teens used bear spray during the attack, which is when an employee shot at the suspects. Both took off running.

Police said they got dropped off at a nearby urgent care by a getaway driver, who has been identified as Pope. In April, Bazy was charged in a case investigated by the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s office, in which he is accused of attempting to rob two underage victims at gunpoint in an alley behind a home in the Heights.

KPRC 2 News obtained surveillance video of the incident involving what investigators described as three armed suspects. Investigators said Bazy and the other suspects allegedly patted down the victims as if they were looking for items to steal and then took off.

Bazy was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, but in June, court records show prosecutors dismissed the case, writing that it couldn’t be

They thought the Armored Truck employees just randomly pull up with bags of money, and no training.
