the doctors have to defend every medical decision they make either in depositions and/or court. it is not their responsibility to do determine if the accident is legit or not
The plaintiffs attorneys have deals with clinics that see almost exclusively their patients. I can tell you one in Alabama sees almost 80 new patients a month. They get the doctors they hire to order expensive and often unnecessary tests. Y’all ever heard of a VNG machine? $10,000 test to “diagnose” a concussion, which I diagnose using the clinical history and follow the patient’s recovery using a SCAT form (yes that’s actually what it’s called lol) printed for free off the internet. They insist that every car accident patient get a neck or back MRI. These are likely to show something in most people above the age of 40-50, even if there’s no symptoms and has nothing to do with their accident “injuries.” It’s a massive scam. The clinics send a bill for their doctor’s services to the plaintiff’s attorney (ie Morris Bart), the attorney pays you a chunk of change (1/4 the total bill for medical care performed by a chiro, 3/4 for a doctor [because it looks better in court]), then the attorney shows the bill to the offending party’s insurance. This shite absolutely costs us money in Louisiana. I am an MD and I interviewed at one of these places last year. I went out of curiosity since my brother practices Med mal defense law. I was shocked at how brazen they were in telling me all this during the first interview. Outright admitting they get doctors to put bogus charges on bills in an obvious kickback scheme. Oh, and their electronic medical record was designed in-house, with convenient click boxes specifically for personal injury stuff.

well that does sound bad for that clinic in Alabama, but i can assure you that is not the case with many doctors in the new orleans area.
