The only thing more consistent than pit Bulls being involved in these stories is super trashy sounding names of the people attacked.

3.) Over the 37-year period from 1965-2001, pit bulls have been blamed for an average of 2.48 human fatalities per year.

Anyone want to bet that number is QUITE a bit higher since 2001?

Seems a little low. Is that deaths per dog?

I agree and don't know the answer; I would think Florida had that number covered in a couple of months

I was on a hog hunt recently and one of the hogs back to the camp, that the catch dog (pit) had ripped open the skull.

When I saw it I asked who'd shot it. I swear I thought they were mistaken and that one had been shot with a 9mm pistol I'd given one of the younger guys to carry.

My dog is actually an American Staffordshire, which gets lumped in with pits. She's fine where I'm living, but four blocks west, in Denver, she's a banned breed.

Since I've been around Denver, she's gotten loose 5 times from my backyard. Every single time I got a call from someone to get her, she's was being held on a leash by a child.

She's without a doubt, the sweetest dog that I've ever owned. But that's not me just being lucky. I socialized as soon as I got her. From 3- 8 months, I brought her everywhere I could in Nola. What helped most, imo, was taking her to the dog park in the French Quarter, and once she was worn out from playing, putting her on a leash and waking her sound the quarter.

The American Temperament Test Society, pits rate extremely well. They problem is, a lot of dumbasses want a tough looking dog. But they teach it to be a guard dog, keep it away from people and other dogs, and reward negative behaviors. I could turn any breed into a mean dog. And a lot of dumbasses do that with pits, often without realizing it. You can't keep an athletic dog in an apartment all day. It will go crazy. Exercise it properly, and provided go away.

And to the person who mentioned boxers and goldens not attacking is an incredible dumbass. Look at the cost of a pure breed like those and what types of people get those dogs. Usually people wanting those breeds aunty family dogs, and raise them as such. People that spend big money on pits are usually morons wanting a fighting or guard dogs that look cool and tough.

Pits are intense dogs. Whatever they do, it's at 110%, all the time. It's why mine's worst habit it trying to jump 6' to kiss a strangers cheek. She is loving, and can be intense trying to give it. If she were raised mean, than she could be a demon. Raise a dog without fear, and they are a great breed.

You were doing good until you got to the sweet dog and temperament test stuff. The fact is dogs of all sizes and temperaments are capable of having bad days. Even before the idiots come into play. They have no verbal means of warning fools off and most children and many adults have no idea how to read their cues and very often invade their personal space.

Right up until the moment they're not. Then they're a killing machine and it's too late.

Maybe so. But I will mentioned the time I brought her to a blues festival in Larose. It was a festival that let dogs off-leash. Not only did I have strangers who introduced themselves because they met and played with her, people were jokingly calling her Miss Congeniality, because she said help to everyone like she was working the room at a cocktail party.

And after I put her in the tent Saturday night to keep partying. She apparently snuck out, and snuck into a random couples tent in the middle of the night, because she needed to cuddle with someone. Luckily, we had mutually friends, and they tossed her in my tent in the morning. I wouldn't have known if they didn't tell me.

As I said, pits and Staffys are intense breeds. If they are friendly, they are super friendly. Make them mean, and you have Cuju. If you see a mean pit, blame it's owner. They were either abusive or negligent.

Media hype b.s.

It used to be Dobermans, Then German Shepards, Then Rots, now it's pits. The media loves a good fear story, and y'all dumbasses take the bait every time.

Besides, in these pit stories, why do they never show the dog? Why isn't there any DNA testing? Basically, all mutts before pit bulls if they attack. And Americans are dumb enough to believe the bs.
