Does Lafayette have any good running trails?

In BR there was the lakes and the levee, New Orleans has that trail that goes around Audubon, etc. I've been living here for a few months and doing all my running on treadmills at Red's is getting old.

The park on the north side of town has some hills and wood trails

City-parish government officially opened 4 miles of new hiking and running trails Thursday at the Acadiana Park Nature Station.
The Nature Station in north Lafayette has for years offered workshops, nature walks and education programs on a 43-acre tract off Alexander Street that includes a science center.
The new hiking trails are spread out over an additional 107 acres north of the original Nature Station site.
Also, try Girard Park by ULL campus. 1.25 mile loop made of cinders.

Go to (or call) Precision Bikes and ask to speak to Mark Miller. He is an avid triathlete and runner and can likely make some suggestions or let you know of different running groups.
Another idea would be to visit Geaux Run (local running store) and ask the same. I don't know anyone there but they follow me on Twitter and seem like very nice people.

pay for a daily entrance into reds, go upstairs and run on the treadmill behind the stair masters. you're welcome
edit: just noticed youve been doing that already, how does that "scenery" in front of you get old???

That was going to be my first choice when looking at the map, but a 4 mile trail sounds better than doing the same 1.25 over and over.
rogue: I do exactly that for my warm ups, but if I'm running for time I can't have THAT level of distraction all up in my face. Good lawd

Acadiana Park is my go-to if I need to get my trail fix. They just held a 10k trail run there last weekend. Map isn't posted though...

Second is the track at Girard though that isn't really a trail.
On the weekend drive up to Chicot or Kincaid Recreational Area.

Wilderness Trail on the Northside.......is that still a thing for hiking, biking, running?

We have a few running groups in the area also. Nothing but awesome people to hang around with. I know several people in the area who run 50-100 mile trail races regular. Have you signed up for Zydeco Marathon in March yet? It's going to be a blast.

At Lake Martin there is also a decent trail to follow. Chicot is the best place to go for tough trails around here though.

I run around River Ranch. Traffic is usually low and there is a lot of good "scenery" to see.

I enjoy running around downtown, UL campus, through the park loop, oil center, etc. I try out different routes each time and really enjoy it. I also like running in the saint streets because the homes are so charming and full of character.
Also, you can run the track by UL's stadium, just not when teams are having practice.

You should consider the pea gravel trails like the one at Forest Park in Baton Rouge. Better for your joints- especially ankles and knees.
I think the one by ULL in Lafayette is setup like that.

plenty of great runs from Red's. Shannon loop, Bendel, Hospital to Hospital, Downtown, etc. Just hang around the front or side door at 5 or 6 am. You can find a group for any pace and distance. Cold plunge in the indoor pool area for after the run.

Laffy people like to run away from the reality of being USL

Speaking of River Ranch, they have a little rec center free to the public to the south side of Camelia that has an inside and outside running track.
