Does anyone still purchase greeting cards?

Over the years they have gotten more and more expensive. I know you can buy certain holiday cards in bulk, but just for a birthday or graduation the cards at the store are crazy expensive.

I just recently started downloading free templates online and printing on cardstock. They are damn near as good as the ones you buy from the store. And as a bonus you get more kudos for making a "homemade" card.

Just curious if anyone still regularly buys them.

Of course. Why would this have stopped?

The wife and I were late to one of her family's birthdays a while back and had to stop by Earthsaver's for the gift they wanted and we just HAD to make sure we got a card for it too. Well we didn't have time to make a 2nd stop, so "Oh, look!" she exclaims as she notices by the cash register there's a selection of Earthsaver's brand birthday cards. Two birds with one stone I think optimistically, until I look at the receipt and realize that flimsy card, that had nothing special about it, cost $7.99.

I even went on a rant at the birthday party, to the wife's displeasure, that we should all agree to abolish the card tradition. Why don't we agree to spend that extra money on the gift instead of on a piece of trash nobody cares about. I think everyone would rather get a $55 gift instead of a $50 gift + piece of paper.

I was asking if people still buy them as opposed to making your own with online templates. Not all of us are OT ballers. I would've had to buy like four graduation cards this year. Instead I used an online template and made them for free.

Dollar General... two for a dollar. Will get one for mothers day and one for wife's birthday then throw it in my office desk drawer until October.

Eta: especially when you have to buy multiple cards...DG
Go to walgreens and 2.50-6,7,8 bucks per card.

And what did you print it on? What envelope did you put it in?

Yep. I got my SO one from "the dog" for Mother's Day. Hallmark has an entire "to mom, from dog" series.

Printed on cardstock or photo paper in color. And they have different templates that are different sizes. You can pick from plenty of sizes that'll fit in various size envelopes.
