Simply a matter of opinion. I'm sure a lot of people probably see Sherman is the hero who burned from Atlanta all the way to the ocean in order to drive a stake into the heart of the Confederacy's will to fight anymore. Most southerners wouldn't see him as a hero. I'm sure many Yankees do. It's all a matter of perspective.

I would actually be OK with it IF:
1. There was an honest discussion with both views presented.
2. The citizens were allowed to vote on removing the statues.
3. If the vote was to remove them, there was a plan in place on how/where to preserve the statues as historical artwork.
