I’ve never thought about the fact that he’s never invited to guest on many shows or otherwise given his flowers for being a vet in the business like much of the older guard.
Otherwise, I’ve never taken huge issue with his opinions until recently. He’s definitely an old man yelling at clouds and just can’t accept where college sports are in 2026.

He was so close to grabbing the brass ring but he just never quite got there.
I thought he was practically there when he had the SEC lead commentator gig at CBS along with his own radio show and all the guest calls in to shows like FBomb and Bill King's thing on Sirius.
Honestly, I figured LSU fans would love Tim Brando since he hates Bama so much and nobody hates Bama as much as LSU.

He was very good with Tigervision in the mid 80s and also as a sideline analyst before that job was turned into hen crap.
He also did a great job in the mid to late 80’s at the score desk for ESPN - long before Gameday and such. He could do highlight reels by himself and we didn’t need three other people to hover over each other. Live games were cut to him and he didn’t miss a beat.
He also did great play by play for Jefferson Pilot and worked well with the likes of Larry Conley, Barry Booker, and Joe B Hall. BUT somewhere in the late 90’s and onward, he got that CBS job and wore an awful hair piece and became a major snobby poon. I don’t know how and why. But no doubt, if you meet him and wanna converse LSU then be prepared for his monologue.

Dude has an irrational hatred for Alabama, which is strange considering he is not an LSU alumnus.
He picked Bama to win the national title in 2000. One of the all time worst picks. Dubose was the coach then. Bama went 3-8.

I haven't seen him in years. Grew up with his daughter and had many fascinating conversations throughout the years about sports/LSU/sportscenter days, etc. etc. He was always kind enough to entertain my inquiries as a youngster who loved sports. I'd just go into the den with him and watch ballgames and pepper him about anything and everything regarding sports and his career. Always good to me. And having him host the studio show for CBS/SEC football after initially being the GAMEDAY host, however briefly, was peak nostalgia for me. Also loved how he'd manage to get a mention of Shreveport or Captain Shreve in virtually every appearance/gig.

He’s also one of the most thin skinned people ever.
