Traffic lights are either on a timer or have loops in the pavement. These loops are placed at the intersection behind the stop line or, in some cases, a few hundred feet before the light to allow ample time for a vehicle to decelerate to a complete stop. The loops are magnetic so the light will change once a car is detected. However, a motorcycle will not always prompt a signal change.

Nope, it doesn't work on any light. Only a moron would believe this.
this...
the preemption signal sensor is set for
low priority: 10 flashes per second
High priority: 14 flashes per second
when triggered you will see a light come on on top of the signal or sensor indicating you now have preempted control of the intersection...
glad some of you feel you can accomplish this 10 or 14 x per second effect with manually hitting your brights.

Why do people say "it works" when it has been debunked? We live in an urban myth society.

Those aren't weight sensors, there is a wire that runs under the road that has a current running through it. And the iron in your car effects the electromagnetic field surrounding that wire, and that is how it detects a waiting vehicle
That's pretty cool, didn't know that.

It used to work at night on some streets in Lafayette LA in the '80s, but I don't live there any more..........Lafayette peeps, what say you? Still working?

Back up to fool induction loop detectors is pointless.....it is not reading queue length, only presence of a vehicle.
