Being active in the mountains, you can eat without worry.
Its a function of the type of people too. Outdoorsy, athletic people love mountainous areas. These people are just more active.

+1 for downhill snow skiing . After a hard day of snow skiing you are worn out and beat, but you have so much fun doing it the whole time you don’t realize you’re working out, unlike trying to go for a 5 mile run on flat land with no scenery in 110° 100% humidity weather in the south.
