My 85 year old grandfather just got out of the hospital for a colon bleed. He's had hemorrhoid trouble for a while but it turns out that this bleed came from a botched colonoscopy about a month ago. I think they removed a polyp but didn't properly mend the wound after so it would get aggravated every time he had a bm.

He may need to get a colonoscopy to rule out cancer especially if the blood is a dark red color. He most likely hasnt been screened for it since he was 75. That's when the USPSTF recommends stopping screening LINK
