My experience with dobermans, while by no means extensive, is that they are fierce when it comes to people but wimps around other dogs..

My doberman is the opposite. Loves people, not a fan of other dogs unless at the dog park. For some reason he is cool with them at the dog park.ha

Dobermens are not bred to be mean, comfrontational dogs. They are used as help dogs for the blind or elderly. Very mild mannered.

Mine, pictured below, is very social towards other dogs and people.
