Do you look down on people who go to therapy?

I'm not talking people with PTSD, rape victims, etc. I can understand that. I'm talking more along the lines of people that get depressed about minor stuff/the "woe is me" type. It's laughable to me that a person would pay another individual to listen to their problems.

What says the OT?

No.

I'd rather them do that than shoot up their office.

No. A guy I worked with committed suicide last month. You have no idea what some people are going through so if talking helps they should do that.

No. I DGAF when it comes to things other people do that literally have no effect on me. I appreciate people making the effort to improve their lives & be happier however they see fit.

No. I've often wanted to go speak with a personality specialist to better understand my own personality from a clinical viewpoint. But then again, I'm weird like that.

There are plenty of ways I could waste money. Telling a stranger why I'm down in the dumps definitely ain't one of them.

I thought like you.

Then I had to use my weapon at work. Talking about it with people helped way more than I'd ever guess. I was totally cool with how it went down, but I still benefited from talking through things.

You don't realize how different things can effect people.

nah, if someone can feel better by talking things out with someone as opposed to taking a bunch of medicine, then I am good with it. as long as it is effective, I have no problem with it.

That's a different story though. That guy could've had a death in the family or something. That gets lumped in with the PTSD, rape and etc group.

So you know the full history of everyone who speaks to a counselor?

Seriously, why does this bother you? I spend approximately 0% of my day wondering who is in counseling, and whether or not they've been dealt enough shite to make it valid.

Let me tell ya something. Nowadays, everybody’s gotta go to shrinks, and counselors, and go on “Sally Jessy Raphael” and talk about their problems. What happened to Gary Cooper? The strong, silent type. That was an American. He wasn’t in touch with his feelings. He just did what he had to do. See, what they didn’t know was once they got Gary Cooper in touch with his feelings that they wouldn’t be able to shut him up! And then it’s dysfunction this, and dysfunction that, and dysfunction vaffancul!
