This once again goes back to what I've said over and over... It's all about training, both target and tactical training. It's available out there and is encourage anyone wanting to get a CC to take advantage of it on a regular basis.
I mean, where does one go to get the type of training required to take out a shooter in a movie theater? Unless it's someone with special force type military training there's no way to recreate that situation.

I don't know about movie theaters, but low light, moving, active shooter, etc. training is widely available across the South. Some I'm sure is better than others, but it's fun and it's very valuable.

Go to your local gunship and they should be able to point you in the right direction. There are ranges and professionals available. I first got my training in the army and on the years since have used a firing range local to me.

For everyone who has a CC permit, I highly recommend watching the series linked below. It can really give you an idea of various dynamic situations handled by people with very different skills and experience. There is some vital information that everyone who carries should know and, as you'll see, it starts with using your head.
First Person Defender
The settings of the videos should look familiar for many of us

I completely agree. Getting a permit is only the first step. People would be amazed at how effective basic, rudimentary, repetitive training can be.

Is there a place that will turn the lights down and randomly fire live rounds at you?

For all those out there saying someone with a cc engaging this guy wouldn't make a difference, well I have one thing to say YOU'RE WRONG!!!
The people that commit these acts are cowards. Once engaged with the same level of violence they will either surrender or kill them selves. they don't want a fight, that's why they pick soft targets.
IE. last night when the police made entry into that particular theater the gunman turned the gun on himself. The gunman had his car parked right outside the exit. he was planning on an escape, but when the police engaged him he decided to kill himself.
Its very simple with these people if you take the fight to them they show their true colors and more than kill themselves. Look almost every mass shooting and 9/10 the shooter kills himself when engaged or feels trapped.
So back to the main point, had there been one person who was carrying and engaged this man the out come would have been different. instead of 2 dead and 7 injured, maybe you have 2 dead and 3 injured. ( I'm assuming the 2 dead where right next this man and there is really nothing that can be done)

What movie theater do you go to that has cops posted in each theater? Like I said, the average place nowadays has like 12-16 individual theaters. For a PD to cover a place like that on a weekend (2 cops per individual theater), they'd have to have 24-32 cops just at that one place alone. I don't know of many cities with enough cops on payroll to do this.

Agreed. So I eliminated the safety.
Yeah, I used to be one of the "it has to have a safety" kinda guys. Not anymore.

Yeah the most I've ever seen at one theater is 2 and they're usually either sitting outside in their car or hanging out in the lobby somewhere. Those cops are primarily stationed to deal with the young punks that like to congregate outside when their parents drop them off... they're not expecting an active shooter situation.

Really? Well that should partly be obvious.
But in BR we have 4, 5 if you count the Malco. So that's 10 officers right there. Not 24.

In the state of Georgia, as long as you are active duty military, a CCL is not required as your ID card suffices as such. I carry anywhere I go as I don't trust anyone.

There is force on force training available if you want to look into it, but I assume you're just trying to be snide.

These videos are great and the people in them are good people as well. I took a tactical class with them one weekend and it was worth every penny.
Search for "VATA group". They have courses in Slidell and offer many different kinds of training in a small class setting. I can't recommend them enough.

Exactly, they're not in the room itself where there are about a hundred or so people jammed together in a confined space with limited exit options.
And one the idiot stands up and starts mowing people down, everyone will either get down on the floor or bolt for the exits. The result will be that it will be almost impossible to get into that room while the shooter is doing his horrible work. The only way he can be stopped if it's a full theater, other than allow him to exhaust his ammo, is someone in the room has to stop him.

I'm legitimately trying to wrap by head around it. I don't get how anyone outside of the military can be trained to handle a situation like this.
