We've all heard of the health benefits from colds to cholesterol, to heart health and even supposed cancer prevention.

Do you eat raw garlic for this purpose? If so, how do you do it?

Chewing it sucks, it burns your mouth pretty damn bad, I've used it to aide in a toothache before and it went away really quick.

My best method is to cut a clove into 3 pieces and swallow them like pills with a swig of water.

No, but I'll eat way too much at a boil.

Most normal people buy garlic capsules and take daily.

Odorless garlic are considered higher quality. And people don't end up with nasty rotten sneaker breath.

You probably don't have to eat it raw to get the health effects. You just need to crush/mince your garlic about 10-15 minutes before cooking it. This is because the compound that confers the health benefits, allicin, is formed when the cells in garlic are broken. Apparently it's heat resistant when it's already formed, but it doesn't form under heat. So you have to wait a while.

they make a garlic press. it pushes it through a sieve.

you can sprinkle that on a salad or steak.

I slice it very thin and eat a slice.

I had read that cooking it virtually depletes the allicin. That could be wrong.

Another way is to put crushed inside a small piece of tissue, it seems to help with the bad breath. I just eat it first thing in the morning and brush my teeth/ rinse with mouthwash.

Was told when I was younger that it builds your immune system and is an anti-inflammatory of some sort

Plus, the cloves are tasty as a mother fricker when eaten whole

Best way to eat raw garlic is press down on it real hard with the wide side of your knife when removing the peel. The crushing of the garlic allows some chemical to react to the air, making the garlic more 'potent', or more likely more bio-available. It also reduces the 'burning' and strong garlic taste by doing this.

So once you crushed it and removed the skin, just chop it up real fine, and let it sit from a min up to 90 mins to reap the benefits. Then after that, its best to take a spoon and shovel it in your mouth, then follow that up with some water and swallow. No taste, minimal burn and better benefits.

If you can get some fresh ginger, I would also do this with it as well. Turmeric and black pepper works amazing.
