I can attest to the fact that there are an awful lot of people in upstate New York, rural New Jersey and rural Pennsylvania that would fit right in with a redneck family reunion in Alabama.

Nope, don't think most Texans consider themselves as southerners either. They are Texans not southerners. I think florida is kinda the same way, panhandle is southern, but the rest of the state, not so much.

No and I don't consider Louisiana (at least the Southern portion of the state) southern as well.

No. Texas is west to me. Or Midwest at least. It ain't the south. The western border of the south is Louisiana.

What is your reasoning behind thinking south Louisiana is not southern and north Louisiana is?

Culturally, East Texas is as much Southern as any.

So from Dallas Eastward, it's Southern.

I was really referring to the stars and bars next to the Texas flag on the pic I posted at the state line. Was surprised that more people haven't noticed thatt when they enter Texas.

Well not completely surprised. Most people don't know what the stars and bars flag is...

The few times I've been in Louisiana, you can see a cultural difference. I've found that North Louisiana shares more similarities with the likes of Texas, Mississippi, Alabama. South Louisiana, really doesn't resemble other Southern states (South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and so forth). South Louisiana, in my opinion, has it's own unique identity that really none other shares. Is is Southern? Sure. Did they send men to participate and fight in the Civil War? Sure. It just has such a unique identity that no one else shares.

If were going by number of confederate soldiers from a given state NC would win with both contributions and casualties.

Louisiana is incredibly diverse when it comes to accents.
