This is the way it should be done.

Just yesterday I had to throw away onions because they were bagged with my dishwasher detergent which leaked all over them. I suppose I could have washed them, peeled off the outer layers, and still used them, but d/w detergent is pretty strong...plus my onions smelled lemon fresh and that aint right. I realize an onion isnt a sealed product, but the same principle applies. I don't want cleaner all over my food. On canned goods, it makes the label a mess and it will probably come off, then I wont know my green beans from my corn and chaos will ensue. I suppose I could write "GREEN BEANS" on the can with a sharpie, but then my pantry would look like a damaged goods thrift store. I would rather the stuff just be bagged separately.

I separate on the conveyor, too. Automatically and without even thinking about it. Why would one not?

No, the giant bottle of apple juice does not belong in the same bag as bananas,

What's the issue here? Why would that even matter?

but I've had liquid soap leak in a bag so I do try to keep it separate

Seems like you grabbed the wrong one on the shelf

Go buy 2 bunches of bananas and see for yourself. Make a note of which one gets bruised up and lasts 1/2 the time of the other bunch.

Yes, because when we're all putting up groceries, we're literally running from fridge to pantry, slinging shite inside as fast as we can.

Yes.

I organize my products on the belt in such a way to be bagged the way I want.

Cleaning products, hygiene etc...together
Cold items together...
Heavy and/or can goods together...
Boxed items together...

Eggs, produce and Bread last.

It’s gonna get messed up anyway, they’re just worried about getting you out of there ASAP

I have never understood the logic of this.

It’s pretty simple. Similar items go together. When I’m unpacking at home, I prefer to have a bag of all my bathroom stuff so I can just grab it and bring it upstairs instead of sorting out a bag that has steak, toothpaste, a candle, etc in it.

This is like I wrote it! My wife simply gets out of the way at this point when we get to the register because she's knows I'm going to do this and I'm going to tell her to stop if she starts taking things out.

It's something called 'Best Practices'. Maybe one day you'll learn about it.

I prefer hamburger meat and chicken to definitely be separated. Last week I had a lady put chicken in with my bread. I separated them in front of her. She apologized but I said, no big deal, I am a little germaphobic.

For all you germaphobes and autistics that must have things separated: You should visit the DC, watch the trucks get loaded and see the unloading process at the store.
It's cute that you think you are controlling this stuff somehow.
