Fountain drinks definitely taste better than a can or bottle of soda, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone get mad or storm out a gas station before if they were out.

For a consummate cannabis smoker a super big gulp of Mt Dew is perfect for the cool refreshment to alleviate cotton mouth and the caffeine boost for extra motivation. Plus when the Mt Dew runs out I can chew the ice. And that big gulp is still cheaper than a 16oz bottle.

No question fountain drinks taste different than canned or bottled.
Also no question that the fountain products are wildly inconsistent due to inconsistent to nonexistent cleaning and maintenace depending on the outlet.
I have seen things when ill maintained poorly or infrequently cleaned soda fountains are opened up that would cure you forever of fountain drinks! Of course I have heard horror stories of insects or rodent parts found in bottled or canned sodas.
People who prefer fountain usually do so because they prefer their soda in a cup with ice and a straw. Also free refills.
