As a former smoker, I can tell you, no they do not realize how bad they smell.

I believe this. I refuse to do a lot of elective procedures on smokers because of the increased risks of complications. I will make people stop before surgery. The vast majority of them show up and tell me they aren't smoking, yet I can smell them in the hall. I guess they really don't realize how obvious it is.

Probably already stated, but as a previous smoker, no I had no idea until after I quit and was around other smokers.

Can you imagine a time not that very long ago, people were allowed to smoke on airplanes?

Yes, less air range incidents and flying was a lot classier. I'm not saying there's a connection, but I'm not, not saying there's a connection either.

Same. I cringe when I think back to how I cared for kids at work and would take smoke breaks and think scented lotion and mouthwash covered the smell, not even thinking how much my scrubs may have stank.

The girls in my office smoke before clinic and at lunch. They do the same thing and it becomes a nasty mix of cigarette and fruity lotion smell.

One time right before I quit, and one reason I did, I had a patient beg me to take him outside for a smoke because he could smell it on me and knew I was a smoker. I hated to tell him no but I wasn't about to get in trouble for that shite

It's safe to say that 99.9% of smokers are not like this guy. Smoking is trashy.

I think they don't give a shite how they smell because they're obviously trashy as frick and probably don't have much of an education. Their children will be the same way, too.

Dipping is trashier than smoking.

I smoked for ten years and honestly had no idea how bad it smelt before I quit. I get it now and it's pretty embarrassing looking back, but at the time my attitude was more of saying frick it, who cares

No. You're just associating those people with the habit. Hang out with classier people.
