I don't think it'd be too hard to learn to read it, but to write that in real-time...
I can type steadily at about 105wpm, but I can't write fast with a pen without my hand cramping up in two sentences.

It's nice to be able ask them to send a letter or tel message and they jot it down as quick as you say it. Done.
Do you pace around the office with a cigar as you dictate?

No cigar. But we move fast. We also use dictation equipment and crank out tons of work.

No it isn't taught anymore. I took shorthand and used it during tha 13 years I worked in the business field. Sad that schools don't even teach cursive hand writing anymore either.

Never learned that or have had experience with it

Saw a court reporter in Mississippi transcribe a whole week long trial in shorthand once. That was some crazy shite.
That's pretty insane

Which schools no longer teach cursive?

Years ago colleges offered degrees in "Secretarial Science". My late mom graduated with that degree. Till the day she died, she could write and transcribe it. It was also amazing to see her type 80+ words per minute on an old manual typewriter.
She had some great stories about secretarial pools at military bases during WWII.

That looks infinitely more difficult than just writing things down normally.

This would have been a lame thread 30 years ago. All the ballers with dictaphones would have been laughing at you.
