Im guessing this was the OP's attempt at comparing support of Hitler and ignoring the Holocaust to supporting the history of the Confederacy and ignoring slavery.

I took a bike tour of Munich while I was studying in Austria. The guide was dealing with a bunch of college kids laughing about the Nazi salute and he got very serious telling us not to do it. Told us a story of a Dutch tourist who did it drunkenly in front of and directed towards some German cops. Said the guy got months in jail for it. We all stopped fricking around after that.
BTW, if you’re ever in Munich, I seriously recommend Mike’s Bike Tour. Best tour I’ve ever been on. You ride around Munich, drinking at beer gardens and the Hofbrau house (Hitler had rallies there), and even jump in one of their small rivers downtown. So much fun.

This seems like a really good analogy, but that's only if you're ignorant about the context of the two situations. It's shallow and used for its ability to paint other people as bigots unworthy of respect, so pretty much par for the course.

So the United States government slaughtered Native Americans during the same time period and even later. During the War women in the north had almost no rights and I'm pretty sure being openly gay would have probably got you almost killed. So the Union = Nazis or American flag = nazis flag. I'm no big supporter of flying the confederate flag and I complelty agree that it is tied to slavery whether directly or indirectly. I do think it's possible to display it for reasons of regional pride and not racism. I personally wish it would disappear

They aren't in denial. There are multiple remembrances and monuments to Holocaust in Berlin. If you want to see straight up denial for WWII, look to Japan.
