Disney to change another ride for political correctness: "We Wants The Red Head" Edition

We Wants The Red Head!
Disney World parks set to remove the auction scene from Pirates of the Caribbean during ride makeover. Other "improvements" are also being made during the remodel.
Just enhancing and improving. I miss the old days when pervy Disney writers and artists hid adult jokes throughout the movies. Why must we lose all the good ones?

The famous auction scene with the redhead in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is going to be changing. The redhead will still be there, but in a new role. The redhead will no longer be up for auction. In the new scene, she’ll be joining the pirates and helping them auction off the local townspeople’s items at the Mercado auction.

“To me, the Imagineers are simply reflecting what Walt started the day Disneyland opened – making changes that create exciting new experiences for our guests,” said Marty Sklar, former creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering. “I can’t think of a single attraction that has not been enhanced and improved, some over and over again. Change is a ‘tradition’ at Disneyland that today’s Imagineers practice – they learned it from their mentors, many of them Walt’s original team of storytellers and designers – the Disney Legends.”

I was on that ride a few weeks back and was wondering why that part hadn't gotten any SJW attention. Apparently it had, and we just hadn't heard about it yet.

of all the things in the world to get upset at...this is not one of those things.

Yeah this is one of those things where people are going to absolutely lose their shite over something they've never given a thought to before.

Pirates were really bad people...
Maybe they should just scrap the whole Pirates of the Caribbean thing, the ride and the movies... Stop glorifying bandits, rapist and thieves...
PC world is a complete joke...

would it be ok to auction off a blonde instead?

The red head is going to be incorporated into the new scene, FWIW.

So a major entertainment company tries to minimize things that could be offensive?
Clearly the amount of people potentially offended > the amount of people offended by the change. Sounds like a good business move.

Explain to me how this is "clear".

She will be helping the trans-pirates shop for their new outfits and handbags. Music provided by Erasure.

Yea, they are making her a pirate.
In the next remodel, pirates will probably be rebranded as men that fought for women's rights.

It s clear to Disney, or they wouldn't make the change, no?
They may misjudge the public reaction sometimes, but given two choices, they don't consciously choose the one that pisses off more people.

How can they explain the long line for the ride and the park being packed year round if so many people are offended by this?

When I went to Disney for the first time as an adult , I finally noticed that part of the ride
. I thought It was funny that most kids would most likely never know what's going on. Sad that PC-ness has completely taken over. No more "Easter eggs" for the parents

Because the line moves super fast and then you just chill for about 6 minutes.
Parents love the shite out of that ride.

The redhead is the only one I'd bid on.

I'm not suggesting there are many people offended by this.
What I am suggesting is that among customers, the amount of people upset by the scene > the amount of people who are upset by the change. Additionally, being upset is one thing, but being upset to the point you no longer go to Disneyland is quite another. They're making a decision they believe is better for their bottom line. They're not infallible, and that decision could be wrong, but they're still driven by the bottom line.

SJW's have become the new Puritans.

Of course it's a good move. I as I'm sure many others, enjoyed the hidden jokes that went over most kids heads. The transition of power from older imagineers to the current PC generation is becoming more evident, even down to children's movies. Don't think too far into it. Just an observation.

They don't bring as much in return. Too many flaws
