Took my first crack at the ACT and and scored a 24. With studying can i lift my score up to a 30? Or is the ACT pretty accurate on determining your level with 1 sample?
Took it once a year, each year in high school. 24 -> 27 ->28 -> 31
So yea, you can def lift your score, but i guess if you are a senior you might be pretty screwed

So many liars in this thread. Who knew that 99% of the OT scored in the 99th percentile? Shocking!

You hear about cases of other people taking the ACT for atheletes. I wonder if people ever pay someone who is really smart to take the test for their kid to try to qualify for scholorship money?

ACT won't affect your future. Get what you need for TOPS. Scored 23 first time, 24 a few months later. It got me TOPS.
I'm in medical school now.

ACT scores don't matter as long as 1) you have a good GPA, or 2) you scored well in one category.
Believe me...
I got an 18 the first time I took it.
A 22 the second time I took it...
a decade later...
I earned a PhD.

You act like it's impossible to get better at test taking

To the OP: From my neck of the woods we mostly used SAT scores, but I took the ACT as well. First ACT was like a 28, second was a 33.
First SAT was 1900, second was 2190
Take it again man. You can really improve your scores once you know how the test goes. If you're already at a 24, you can easily get it up to like a 28-30 with some practice.
For the dude who thinks we're all liars:

I think those scores are a little better than mine. I did go to Alabama with them. They give out scholarships to out of state students based off your SAT/ACT scores mostly and I got a full-ride. I was always going to go to professional/grad school so I knew that undergrad didn't really matter. Decided to get it done for nothing instead of choosing to go into literally hundreds of thousands in debt.
Worked out well, but now I'm still hundreds of thousands in debt from med school.

So funny. I forgot to laugh. Go catch a Big Bang rerun, nerd.

Pretty obviously a joke haha. And in response because I posted my scores.
No, I got into UAB but out of state cost of attendance (because I didn't become a resident of Alabama while at school), was like 78 grand a year so I decided to go back home and go to an in-state school here where it is 40k a year.
