How many weeks will it take to obtain your CDL?
How much does it cost to attend?
How competent is their job placement staff?

man, that commercial brings back memories from childhood!
fwiw, I would guess that it would be pretty easy to get a truck driving job....and the larger companies have their own training program. I heard on an advertisement that WalMart drivers earn an average of $80K...not too bad at all, if you are willing to put in the hours.

I have a freinds who is pretty high up in Walmart on the logistics side of it. He told me tenured drivers are earning six figure incomes years ago. You do need to have a clean driving record, can't be showing up with you DUI looking for a gig.

i'm shocked the community colleges havent cashed in on this racket.
they could offer the school for 10x cheaper than these big rig schools, and grease a tester for students to pass.
Bosnian guy was doing this and got away with it for a long time, till some one got greedy, he stopped paying him, and the guy rolled.

They don't stay nearly as long as they should. Drivers are nowhere near ready to go over the road/regional upon graduation. Scary how easy it is to get a CDL and get behind the wheel of an 80,000 machine amongst the general public. I work in logistics, have for a long time now, and I can tell you it takes me 2-3 months to find a good driver.

You'll get a job right out of school with these driving academies if you don't have a felony and have a good driving record. You aren't making 80k though, more like 36-45k to start and you'll get the shittiest routes.

Retention and turnover is extremely high, even at the most reputable companies. There's usually a reason that drives one to become an otr truck driver, and honestly over the past generation it has become a job that not many really want. Drivers and O/Os have gotten worse and worse over the years.
