Around 15 people per year die from the flu shot in the US, caused by an allergic reaction. Approximately 80,000 people died from the flu in the US last year. Allergic reaction deaths generally don't make the news unless it's someone famous.

There is a difference?

Not saying she got it during the "recent trip", just saying that a compromised immune system coupled with a trip to Africa could easily lead to a 47 year old dying of the flu or pneumonia.

between 15 and 80k?

Why would the news report on someone having an allergic reaction? Do you see stories about random people dying from a peanut allergy? Only when it involves children or some sort of weird case does anyone care.

The news reports on flu deaths because they always follow it up with, "get a flu shot".

Or it could be because she was in an area being affected by Harmattan.
