I want to see the version of history where Japanese carriers close in on Pearl Harbor, only to find a US carrier with a giant flag saying “Come on boys, we’re going this way!” And two nations send their mightiest to go bomb grass huts in Beijing.

This version of WWII also includes a D-day where the Americans make a hard right in the English Channel, and launch a mammoth attack on the much easier and less defended shores of Iceland.

And we should have teamed up with the Germans. We’re basically Nazi Germany, at this point in our nation’s history. Why we waited 70 years to get here doesn’t make sense

We've got our own Hitler and everything

FDR wanted to get into the war, but public opinion at the time was against it. He held oil from Japan. He expected some type of retaliation from Japan, but not as aggressive as it was.

Of course, that immediately changed public opinion.. And no I didn't google. I actually learned this in a book I read, for an American history class in college.

Lol. We had already broken the Japanese Military encryption. Want a rabbit hole? Here you go:

*OPERATION MAGIC*

Military intelligence intercepted evidence of a planned attack definitively 24 hrs ahead of time. In fact, we may have decoded signal intelligence with even greater lead time. Look it up if you don't believe me. It is all declassified now, but then again, nobody cares about this stuff nowadays apparently. Hell, we even intercepted a FOURTEEN POINT COMMUNIQUE about the attack from top Tokyo brass

But, FDR wanted into the war. Like you said...

I don't know about all of this. Either way, it has nothing to do with why Japan bombed pearl harbor.

Indeed, but it has pretty large implications for those servicemen allowed to die there on Dec 7 when we knew it was coming at least as early as Dec 6 if not even earlier, no?

And the OP makes no sense anyway.

Japan attacked us.

Germany immediately declared war on the US in the aftermath of the Japanese attack.

We were locked in Lend-Lease with USSR and UK.

Our allies had already been chosen for us on Dec 7, 1941.
