re: Did the human error Buzz Aldrin committed during Apollo 11 prevent him from flying again?

The 8 crew was about the only one early enough (without the Apollo 7 drama) to have repeats and Lovell did fly again. Borman would have commanded Apollo 11 and been the first man on the Moon, but turned Deke down when offered the command. He retired shortly after the Apollo 8 flight (a combination of factors). Anders got tabbed with bureaucratic stuff with the Space Council and, while technically still an astronaut, was effectively grounded with that.
Another factor was there was a class of “scientist” astronauts being trained for the later missions. Harrison Schmitt who flew Apollo 17. was a geologist with no military, or aviation experience, others were Owen Garrett a atmospheric physicist, and Story Musgrave, who was a medical doctor and researcher in physiology. Their Apollo flights were canceled, but Garrett flew on Skylab. Musgrave didn’t get to flew in space until he was 50 years old, but flew on 5 or 6 shuttle missions, and was the only astronaut to fly on all 5 space shuttles. Garrett’s son became wealthy from developing video games, and was one of the people that paid around $20 million to the Russians for a trip to the International Space Station..

Not "floating in space" and almost dying trying to get back in because you're a Type A fighter/test pilot and the direct approach is default, but the actual art of moving around a spacecraft and getting shite done on EVAs.
Like Cernan?

No doubt, that was a long time ago. What was that regional airline that flew a lot of Houston-New Orleans? Was it TTA? We used to call it Tree Top Airlines. My wife was at USL and it was only about $20 one way to NO. But don't count on an old man's memory.

Apollo 9's Dave Scott went to the moon as commander of Apollo 15. Apollo 10's John Young and Gene Cernan would also walk on the moon as commanders of Apollo 16 and Apollo 17 respectively.

I forget Dave Scott all the time (as an Apollo 2-timer), but I think that is because Apollo 9 never went to the Moon.
(Apollo 10) Young and Cernan I forget all the time as 2x Moon "travelers", but they did go twice (as much as Lovell went twice, and they both walked).
And, Tom Stafford commanded Apollo 10, never returned to the Moon, but along with Slayton and Brand, flew the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz. Stafford posed for the big handshake with Kobasov.
