I would hold 3 pencils stacked and write 3 lines at the time.

I went to Catholic schools and yes they were big on writing lines. They would also give you near impossible numbers to write, like 10,000 times or something. I waited way to close to the deadline once and knew there was no way I could get it done in time. Then a "buddy" recommended using multiple sheets of carbon paper (like they weren't going to notice) so I could write 10 or so pages at a time. You had to keep the pages perfectly aligned and press really hard but my time was short. So while everyone was playing at noon recess, I was sitting alone, feverishly writing "I will not cheat in school"....LOL! Well when the bell rang to go back to class, I thought I had made my deadline. That was until I started pulling the carbon paper out of the stack and realized I had put it in with the carbon facing the wrong way! Not a good day when a nun reverts to the paddle in front of the whole class.

In high school we had a PE coach who would tell us to run 2 laps around the track and one day me and a couple of the kids in my class were like frick that and he gave us an assignment that was a 3 page paper on the most boring shite ever (I can't remember exactly what it was on) he gave us no specifications other than 3 pages double spaced, so I just copied and pasted that shite, put it in quotes, and cited the source at the end.....other kid never did it and the coach never said anything until the last week of school and made him turn in like 5 extra pages

I just did this in a few minutes with my technique from my middle school days:

You will see where I used lines to my advantage. I also turned the paper sideways for Ws and drew them as Es.

I also picked pencil movements that were simple so, up then down. I did u and m together. G by itself.

We had to if we got after school detention, Saturday detention, or in school suspension. Take a dictionary and start copying it all day.

My mom did that also, I don't recall me having to do it, but my brother poor him. He stole a pack of cards from a store when he was like 12, my mom bought a 5 subject notebook and made him write, I will not steal, from cover to cover, front and back.

I got paddlings. Even in high school, my father would fax over a sheet endorsing the use of corporal punishment on me if I ever fricked around. Only took two before I realized that I wasn't going to do it again.
