Yeah...what...?

I agree. Most men appreciate a woman who can shake her tail for some extra money, but not generally as a wife.
So let me get this straight. An LSU student waiting tables at Chimes or whatever isnt wife material.
Man can you PLEASE say this to the girl when you sit down next time and let us know how it goes?

He sounds like a right wing chauvinist

I doubt it will come up. That's a bit bizarre.

I don’t know about his politics but he certainly isn’t refined like you and S.

Obedient and in his place, you mean.
No, I don't have time for white-knighting. I don't change my opinions just because it upsets the women folk.
The tip is a financial exchange. And it's based on services rendered. Implying I have no choice in the matter brings your politics into question, not mine.

As a proud right wing chauvinist, this offends me.

A man in charge tips well. A pussy arse bitch makes excuses for his cheapness.

Looks like somebody else is showing us how classy and refined is done.

Make whatever excuses you want. The successful folks don’t get there being cheap whining about why it’s justified.

Certainly I wouldn't explain my position on tipping on a post about tipping, huh? Good argument.

No, you’ve moved the goal posts with each exchange. Here was one of your first posts in this thread:
quote:
You tipped at a burger joint. You're nicer than I am.
Despite services being rendered.
Then you move on to even admitting you don’t tip the waiter because someone else sat you next to the bathroom - despite services being rendered and your waiter generally having zero say in where the hostess sits you or what tables make up their section of the restaurant.
quote:
or put me next to the bathroom, I hope the other tables are good tippers.
And then you break out the ol’ “It’s not my responsibility” routine.
quote:
You know what else works? Get a job where you don't need tips to make your bills.
I’ll be honest, I’m a little lost at this point.

I think people got used to massive tips when we were all at home all the time and overjoyed just to be out and about.
I know I tipped close to 35 percent or so right after shite opened up, but I'm back to 20 or so.

What restaurant in Austin do you have minority ownership in?

That's crap. I am not paying the person at a burger joint for handing me my bag of fries and burger. Do you tip at Wendy's? I paid for the food. The person at the counter hands it to me. I don't tip. That's dumb.

As has been pointed out upstream, a lot of what a waiter gets paid for is other people's work. The gratuity is a collective earnings. But you imply that's only when it works in their favor. Shocking.

“It’s not my responsibility” routine.
Once again, the tip is voluntary. And if they're not going to do a suitable job and they ignore me, they're not getting a tip. Don't like it, make the tip mandatory and I'll go somewhere else.
quote:

The only reason you're lost is because you think the worker has no responsibility, that they are a victim of circumstance, which is not true. That's communist tripe. They decide where they work, how they work, etc. Their work ethic will be reflected in their tip. Once they get good at their job, they can go work at nicer restaurants where the tip is required. I can't imagine why anyone who has to work in a real job for a living would be offended by this.

Gotta keep those labor costs down. I see you

they ignore me,
If a regular (me) is sitting next to you and tips 40%+, who wouldn't ignore you? That’s the entire incentive to tipping well. I don’t tip well to get ignored in favor people who can barely scrape together 10%.
quote:

The nicest places I’ve ever been around the country don’t make tips mandatory, so not sure what you’re on about.
quote:
a lot of what a waiter gets paid for is other people's work
Servers tip out the kitchen, barbacks, etc everywhere I had ever worked in my life.

Why not tip 100%? I hope if you spend all your time there, you're not hoping I waste my money on you. Why would I?

Gotta get out of the swamp, I guess.
