Did anyone learn to add using touch points?

I went through a very good portion of the Louisiana School System, but there as always been something that has bothered me. My bitch arse 1st grade teacher taught us how to count using touch points. To this day, if I'm adding something in a high pressure situation, I still count the touch points like a retard. Really goes to show you why Louisiana is behind in everything. Chinese kids can look at 2 3 digit numbers and add them in there head while I have to use touch points.

I didn't go to Catholic School so we didn't have to worry about touch points.

I learned that way in kindergarten ('79)
i actually see the points in my head when i see numbers to this day.....

Touch points are a form of adding. Each number is given its numerical value in "touch points". So for the letter 3, you touch the 3 tips and that reminds you of the value of 3. It's really some stupid shite.

Oh I think I see what you're saying. So like 3 would be represented by your Velcro shoes and 4 would be your favorite wall to lick. So 3+4 would equal 7, or "don't touch your naughty parts in public".

Touch points? Is that like counting on your fingers?
I am pretty sure its not just Chinese kids who can do this. My kid is full blown American and can do this and he admittedly no math genius.
